Nightmare, Radiant, and Shiny Spirits Explained

An English guide to the differences between Nightmare Spirits, Radiant Spirits, and Shiny Spirits in Roco Kingdom: World.

Spirit Variants

If you are trying to understand the difference between Nightmare Spirits, Radiant Spirits, and Shiny Spirits in Roco Kingdom: World, the most important thing is that they are not obtained the same way and they are not equally rare. Some are easy to farm once unlocked, while others are true long-term collection targets.

Nightmare Spirits

Nightmare Spirits are captured with Gulu Balls just like ordinary Spirits, but they have an important unlock condition. A Nightmare version will only start appearing if you have already obtained that Spirit’s original form first.

In practice, this means:

  • If you want a Spirit’s Nightmare appearance, you must capture its normal version first.
  • It is worth checking your Codex before farming, because if the original form is missing, the Nightmare version will not spawn in the wild.
  • Nightmare Spirits cannot change skills.

The good news is that Nightmare Spirits have a very high appearance rate once the condition is met. They are not considered rare.

Radiant Spirits

Radiant Spirits are special variants with standout visuals and unique effects. They are popular mainly because they look impressive and make your lineup feel more distinctive in battle.

There are several ways to get them:

  • the Level 20 selector
  • Level 30 incubation through the Academy beginner event
  • Prism Ball conversion

Compared with the other two types, Radiant Spirits are more flexible to collect because their acquisition methods are more varied. Their appearance rate is moderate, and Prism Balls can also be used to create them.

Shiny Spirits

Shiny Spirits are the rarest of the three.

To get one, players need to keep capturing the same species repeatedly. This has a chance to trigger the “Nightmare Shackles” event, which causes polluted Spirits with corrupted affixes and appearances to appear in the area. After defeating the polluted Spirit, there is a combined 1.8% chance for a Shiny Spirit to appear.

This makes the process much more demanding than hunting Nightmare Spirits or collecting Radiant Spirits. Shiny hunting is built around repetition, event triggering, and a very low final appearance chance.

Which One Is Actually Rare?

If you only care about rarity:

  • Nightmare Spirits are common once unlocked.
  • Radiant Spirits are moderately rare, but they also have multiple acquisition routes.
  • Shiny Spirits are the true high-rarity chase target.

Final Takeaway

Nightmare Spirits are mostly an unlock-and-catch variant, Radiant Spirits are a style-focused special variant with several obtain methods, and Shiny Spirits are the hardest endgame collectible because they depend on chain farming and a very low final spawn chance.

So if your goal is efficiency, check your Codex first for Nightmare farming. If your goal is style, Radiant Spirits are the most accessible special showcase variant. If your goal is prestige and rarity, Shiny Spirits are the ones worth hunting.
