Portrait Guardian

Portrait Guardian

Normal Phase II Original Form

Can skillfully travel between paintings and the outside world. Very warm-hearted and sociable, it often maintains paintings it knows, gently blowing away dust—though too much dust may make it sneeze constantly. This never stops them, however.

Recommended Skill Sets

Magic Attack Burst Build

Playstyle

Late-game buff → seeks burst opportunity, relies on teammates to set up debuffs to trigger 'Ambush' counter effect, with some field presence

Why this set works

Built around Magic Attack base stat advantage, with 'Magic Enhancement' boost + 'Ambush' burst as core, 'Wishing Star' supplements stable output, 'Stress Response' ensures survival. Requires teammates to apply debuffs/status conditions first to trigger 'Ambush's 3x power.

Ambush

Why pick this skill

Core burst skill, Power becomes 3x in Counter state. Combined with trait 'Gray Portrait' (after teammates apply debuffs) or status conditions applied by teammates, it can deal extremely high Magic damage. This is the main damage source for Magic Attack builds.

Magic Amplification

Why pick this skill

Magic Attack buff skill: +70% Magic Attack for multiple turns; opening with priority greatly boosts subsequent 'Ambush' and 'Wishing Star' damage, standard opener for Magic Attack users

Wishing Star

Why pick this skill

This type's Magic damage skill, 110 Energy cost is medium, serves as stable output supplement when 'Raid' doesn't trigger Response, also usable for finishing off low HP enemies.

Stress Response

Why pick this skill

Sustain skill: recovers 25% HP, 50% when countering Defense. Provides field presence capability, allowing Portrait Guardian to output multiple times after buffing, rather than being a one-time artillery piece

Combo Speed Attack Build

Playstyle

Priority buff → Warm-up → combo output, pursuing high multi-hit damage in short time, suitable for quick kills or HP pressure

Why this set works

Centered on Warm-Up Exercise's combo mechanic, buffed with Magic Boost, then use Wishing Star for multi-hit damage, or reserve Ambush for 3x burst when enemy has debuffs. Pure damage-oriented, sacrificing sustain for maximum damage.

Ambush

Why pick this skill

Core burst skill, 3x Power in Counter state. This build uses Warm-up's hit count combined with high Energy cost skills, while retaining the execution ability after triggering Counter.

Warm-up Exercise

Why pick this skill

+3 Combo count, causes subsequent skills to attack additional times. Combined with 'Wishing Star' or 'Ambush' can greatly increase total damage output, key support for boosting burst damage

Wishing Star

Why pick this skill

This type's Magic damage, 110 Energy cost suits combo mechanics. Can deal multiple hits after 'Warm-up', also serves as main output when 'Raid' doesn't trigger.

Magic Amplification

Why pick this skill

Magic Attack +70% boost, increases base damage of all magic skills. After opening with priority, combines with "Warm-up Exercise" + "Wishing Star" or "Ambush" to form high-burst combos.

Notes
  • Portrait Guardian is Normal-type with relatively high 104 Special Attack base stats, but only 42 Attack; should follow the Special Attack route.
  • Trait 'Gray Portrait' increases existing enemy debuff layers by 3. Can synergize with teammates or skills that apply debuffs, but has no direct debuff skills itself, requiring teammate setup or utilizing 'Counter' mechanics.
  • Speed 96 is moderately high, can priority buff or attack
  • Shallow skill pool, no type advantage, relies on same-type Normal damage.
  • 'Ambush's' 'respond to status' 3x power is a core burst method, but requires enemies to be in abnormal/debuff status to trigger
  • 'Stress Response' provides sustain, with doubled recovery when responding to defense, suitable for field presence
  • 'Warm-up' provides combo count +3, can increase total output when combined with high-power skills
